According to officials with the El Centro Regional Medical Center, it’s believed that there were nearly 30 passengers in the SUV that struck a semi truck full of gravel.
CHP described the incident as a “major accident,” and said 14 people were found dead at the scene. Seven others were rushed to the El Centro Regional Medical Center, where one person did not survive.
Two others involved in the crash were taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley, Calif.
