Get To Know NYC Injury Lawyer Erica Tannenbaum

I spent my undergraduate years at SUNY Buffalo, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree, graduated summa cum laude and was inducted to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society my junior year.  For law school, I headed to Boston and received my J.D. at Suffolk University, earning a spot on the Dean’s List.  (Fortunately, my clients that are Yankees fans don’t seem to mind!)

I returned to New York and began practicing personal injury law in 2010.  In 2014, I joined Cellino & Barnes in their Manhattan office.  For over a decade, I have proudly represented personal injury clients with the goal of obtaining a maximum recovery for them.  That commitment has not changed.  Now, as an attorney at The Barnes Firm, I am fortunate to work with an amazing group of attorneys ready to assist accident victims throughout all of New York City’s boroughs and beyond.

Last year, in addition to being named a Super Lawyers Rising Star for the second year in a row, I also had the honor of earning a Top 40 Under 40 Civil Plaintiff Attorney distinction from The National Trial Lawyers.  I presented at a continuing legal education class for the New York State Bar Association on the issues of Uninsured and Supplemental Underinsured Motorist Coverage.  Outside of the legal world, I am involved with the Anti-Defamation League.  I also volunteer for Heart Screen New York, an organization which provides free heart screening for adolescents and young adults.

As a personal injury attorney, I work to ease the physical, emotional and financial issues my clients face as a result of the injuries they sustain.  Each day I look forward to helping my clients through tough times and working to obtain the best results for them.   I am also motivated by honoring Steve Barnes’ legacy every day at the Barnes Firm.

My favorite restaurant in New York City is Capital Grille on 42nd Street.  (I highly recommend the tuna tartar!)

I am terrified of heights, yet I somehow mustered up the courage to go cliff diving while I studied abroad in Spain during my senior year of college.  Admittedly, I may have been the last person in my group to jump, however, I am glad I did and that I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone.

I would go to Manchester, Vermont in the late fall/early winter.  My family took many trips there when I was a child and I always loved seeing the beautiful foliage and snow-covered mountains.

I am fascinated by the unique challenges that each case presents.  From car accidents and assaults to falls and train derailments, it is imperative to know the laws which apply in analyzing each case and to be sensitive to each client’s needs.  Accidents affect people more than just physically and a big part of my job as an attorney is to be there for them every step of the way throughout their case.

On a rainy day I enjoy a nice cup of coffee and “reality” tv.
