Get To Know Buffalo Injury Lawyer Martha Pigott

I’ve had quite a journey on my way to The Barnes Firm!

I grew up in Buffalo, NY before attending Hobart and William Smith Colleges for my undergraduate years. From there, I served two years in the United States Peace Corps, volunteering to help in the East African country of Malawi. This was a transformative experience for me, and prompted my brother and I to create a non-profit organization—The Brick Foundation—that aims to assist underprivileged communities across the world.

Following the Peace Corps and after completing a master’s degree in International Development from Denver University, I returned to Africa alongside another non-profit organization known as Project Healthy Children. While serving as a Country Coordinator, my main goal was to work with local governments in Malawi and Zimbabwe on developing nation-wide nutrition programs.

Eventually, I made my way back to upstate New York to begin my career in law. I worked as a legal assistant to Assemblywoman Monica Wallace and also clerked for the Hon. Eugene Fahey of the New York Court of Appeals, eventually earning a J.D. with honors from the University of Buffalo School of Law. I spent the early stages of my legal career working through a variety of business litigation cases out of Buffalo, including personal injury cases.

Today, as my time with The Barnes Firm begins, I can’t wait to put the sum of my experiences into helping clients obtain the compensation and justice they deserve. My humanitarian heart combined with the mind of a litigator make me the perfect representative for any personal injury victim seeking to have their rights upheld and their voice heard.

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is a great story by a Malawian author, William Kamkwama.  It’s an inspiring true story of young boy who dreamed of bringing running water and electricity to his village through wind power – which he ultimately achieves despite incredible odds.
