Get To Know Buffalo Injury Lawyer Michael Cooper

I attended the University of Buffalo for undergrad, where I graduated cum laude before attending their law school to complete my J.D. degree. From the time that I first began studying legal practice, I knew my destiny was to become a trial lawyer. As such, I spent about 12 years working in the Erie County District Attorney’s office before I joined Cellino & Barnes in 1998. Over the years, I have obtained licenses to practice law in the states of New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and also the United States District Court.

After over two decades as an accident lawyer with the best personal injury firm in New York, I am proud to be one of the newest members of The Barnes Firm’s Buffalo team. Currently, I live in the town of Clarence with my wife and two children.

As a father, and someone that frequently advises others, I take great pride in fostering positivity among the youth in my community. In addition to my active involvement in the United Way, I have given lectures to several high schools in the area regarding traffic safety to promote safe driving habits to teens. I also enjoy coaching little league baseball and football in my free time, as sports are a great way for kids to stay active while learning about teamwork and building comradery.

My favorite song is Ahead by a Century by the Tragically Hip. I saw Gordon Downie sing it many times live and I love acoustic songs because the guitars sound crisp and clear.

I would like to travel to my family’s birthplace in Italy and meet some of my cousins who still reside there. I feel it is important know more about my roots.

At age 12, I wanted to be an attorney like my father who was my legal mentor until the day he died.

I would like to eventually move to Florida where I could attend St. Louis Cardinal spring training games, and fish and golf year-round.

I left a prominent career as a homicide prosecutor, took a pay cut, and learned an entirely new set of laws to represent injury victims. It was a risk I was willing to take because I wanted to expand my knowledge of the law and my future practice of it.
