Get To Know Rochester Injury Lawyer Richard Amico

I am the Chief Trial Counsel for The Barnes Firm’s offices in New York and California. Before I began my career as an attorney, I obtained my B.A. in Political Science from the State University College of New York at Buffalo in 1985. Following that, I studied for one year at the University of San Diego before returning to SUNY Buffalo to complete my J.D. in 1988.

I started out practicing law in 1989, and in the three decades since, I have won many multi-million-dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of my clients. Many of those legal victories came during my time with Cellino & Barnes, but my record of success has continued through my time with The Barnes Firm. The rights of the accident victims I represent mean a great deal to me, and so I will regularly travel to the New York State Assembly and Senate in Albany to lobby on behalf of my clients past and present.

My record of success as a representative for victims of personal injury is built on both the results I have obtained as well as my personal commitment to each of my clients. Though many of my best outcomes remain subject to confidentiality agreements, within the last decade I have helped injury victims secure multi-million dollar settlements up to $25,000,000.00.

I also take great pride in a case I worked on as trial counsel with Johnnie L. Cochran in 1998 concerning the local Galleria Mall and one of their African American employees. We not only secured damages for the young son of the mall employee that was killed in an accident, but also successfully forced the Mall to change policies and promote equal access for all, including disenfranchised people.

As for my level of involvement and care, I make sure to give clients my direct cell phone number so that they can call me with concerns or whenever they feel lost in the process. As someone committed to ensuring justice is served to those harmed by the negligence of others, I take great pride in being there for my clients whenever they need me.

Aside from drinking water from a garden hose, skateboarding without a helmet and jumping ramps on a bike when I was a kid, I would have to say cliff diving in Jamaica.

Hit a left-handed curve ball.  I probably would have gone pro.  However, nothing has given me greater satisfaction than winning a case for a client in need.  The lessons I learned as an athlete lay the foundation for being a successful lawyer.

Human-kind.  It never ceases to amaze me the capacity that humans have to be dedicated, compassionate, courageous, generous, caring and advocate for the least among us.  This is why I became a lawyer.

A People’s History of the United States.  I am fascinated by who we are and the path we took to get here.

People get hurt every day, and when that hardship comes from someone else’s wrongdoing, it can often leave victims confused and frightened about what to do next. As such, I feel a great deal of personal responsibility to make sure injury victims have their rights upheld in an attempt to give them back peace of mind.

I am honored to fight every day for the people that need personal injury representation most and look forward to doing so well into the future.
