What is a spinal cord injury?
A spinal cord injury (“SCI”) refers to any damage to the vertebrae or nerve tissue in the back. This may result in impaired movement or feeling.

What are the most common causes of spinal cord injuries?
Spinal cord injuries can be caused by a number of accidents and diseases, including:

  • Car accidents
  • Motorcycle accidents
  • Falls
  • Sports injuries
  • Diseases
  • And others

Will I be paralyzed if I break my neck or back?
Any fracture to the vertebrae can be very painful, but if the nerves in the spinal cord have not been damaged, you won’t be paralyzed. Paralysis only happens when the nerve tissues in the spinal cord have been damaged.

What is the spinal cord?
This is a main component of the nervous system. At approximately 18 inches, it extends from the base of the brain to a person’s waist. The spinal nerves carried within the spinal cord communicate with other areas of the body and allow us to move.

  • Cervical vertebrae (7 vertebrae in the neck)

  • Lumbar vertebrae (5 vertebrae in the lower back)

I am very thankful and appreciative for the wonderful job that The Barnes Firm has done for me with my auto accident. I think I was lucky to have Landon and Ali worked on my case. They were always available for me.

I was in a car accident and contacted, The Barnes Firm. I was transferred to an attorney right away. The attorney was very pleasant and helpful. He answered all my questions. He set up an appointment that same week. The attorney himself, came over to my home. He went over the paperwork and explained the procedure very thoroughly. The attorney’s paralegal contacted me right away. The office has been in touch with me and genuinely concerned about my injuries. This firm was on top of my case. I highly recommend them. Please call The Barnes Firm.

My attorney and his Assistant helped me through my injury case. It was a real pleasure having their legal advice available to me in a time when I couldn’t think straight or even figure out what to do after my accident injury.
